Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, the sacred site where Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, embraced Buddhism along with thousands of followers in 1956. The Prime Minister offered prayers at the Buddha statue in Deekshabhoomi and was welcomed by Buddhist monks, who presented him with a flower bouquet and a shawl.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other leaders accompanied PM Modi during the visit. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting later in the day.

Earlier, PM Modi paid floral tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, Nagpur. Accompanied by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, he also signed the visitor’s book, leaving a heartfelt message.

“This place, dedicated to Indian culture, nationalism, and the values of the organization, inspires us to move ahead in the service of the nation. The legacy of these two strong pillars of the Sangh is a source of energy for lakhs of volunteers dedicated to the country.”

At 12:30 PM, PM Modi will inaugurate the Loitering Munition Testing Range and Runway facility for UAVs at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited in Nagpur. He will also lay the foundation stone for Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an advanced eye care institute.

RSS ideologue Ashutosh Adoni called the visit “very important and historic,” highlighting the significance of PM Modi—a former RSS volunteer—returning to Smruti Mandir as the country’s leader.

RSS member Seshadri Chari noted that this is PM Modi’s first visit to Smruti Mandir as Prime Minister and emphasized its connection to the centenary celebrations of RSS.

After Nagpur, PM Modi will travel to Chhattisgarh, where he will launch multiple development projects worth ₹33,700 crore in Bilaspur. These initiatives span power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors, marking a major push for infrastructure and economic growth.
